There is a little place down on the south coast of the Dominican Republic called Bayahibe: http://www.dominicanrepublic411.com/bayahibe/index.html. The tourist masses have not yet discovered this gem and I suggest you take advantage of that fact and go down and have a nice vacation in Bayahibe before this changes because tourists are beginning to discover it. Bayahibe has its on beach, not surprisingly called Playa Bayahibe, and it is only 2-3 miles form Playa Dominicus which is a somewhat better known beach. This community is still a “working community” of fishermen so if you go there you can watch real working fishing boats coming in with their catch of the day, fishermen repairing nets, etc. It is quite charming to watch this. Bayahibe also serves as the gateway to Saona Island because almost all the tours there leave out of the marina in this little town. There are a few hotels to stay in.
